Help spread the word about the Kickstarter campaign for Beyond Barbarossa and win prizes
The fundraising campaign to support the start-up costs for the upcoming podcast is now live on Kickstarter, and I’m asking for your help to spread the word.
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform, where interested people can contribute money to pay for initiatives they find worthy. And the podcast I hope the Kickstarter world finds worthy is Beyond Barbarossa: The History of the Eastern Front of World War II. You can read all about it on the Beyond Barbarossa: The podcast page.
Supporter of the Kickstarter campaign get rewards
- $10 (US): one-year subscription to the podcast, bonus episodes, AND a shout-out in the first episode
- $25 and up: the three e-books that make up The Eastern Front Trilogy: Army of Worn Soles, Under the Nazi Heel and Walking Out of War, plus the subscription and bonus episodes
- $50: a personalized, signed paperback copy of The Eastern Front Trilogy, plus the subscription and bonus episodes
- $75 and up: a commemorative coffee mug, plus the e-books, subscription and bonus episodes
- $150 or more: all the above, PLUS a special commemorative t-shirt.
The first episode of Beyond Barbarossa: the podcast will be available on all major podcatchers starting June 22.
The Kickstarter campaign is to help cover the costs of producing a professional-sounding podcast. Things like:
- audio equipment—microphone, headphones, sound absorption equipment
- hosting on a podcasting platform
- web presence
- graphic design
- promotion.
Tell your friends
I’m not asking you for money. (Of course, if you wish to contribute to the Kickstarter campaign, I won’t say no.) But I would love it if you would share this information with anyone you know who listens to podcasts, or who love history or learning about the USSR, eastern Europe or the Second World War.
Here’s an email you can send to them:
Hi ________,
I know you like history and are interested in the history of World War II. But did you know that the war on the Eastern Front, between Germany and the Soviet Union, was far bigger than the conflict in western Europe?
Now there’s a new podcast that digs deep into that critical, but poorly understood in the West, part of the largest war in history. Scott Bury, author of The Eastern Front Trilogy (the true story of a Canadian drafted into the Soviet Red Army in 1941), is launching Beyond Barbarossa: The History of the Eastern Front podcast. It will start on June 22, 2022.
At this point, he’s looking for financial support to cover some of the costs of podcasting: audio equipment, hosting and so on. Also, he has a very cute research assistant named Ragnar the Destroyer, who wants more treats.
If you want to support this interesting venture, he has a Kickstarter campaign. Take a look—there are some great rewards for supporters.
Take care,

For all that work, you deserve a reward. That’s why I’m asking you to cc: me when you forward the Kickstarter campaign to a friend.
Anyone who cc’s me will get a free e-copy of Army of Worn Soles, Book 1 in The Eastern Front Trilogy. You’ll also be entered into a draw for a signed, personalized paperback copy of the full trilogy.
